Buying a Gift Card Online
Purchase a gift card for any venue that uses OpenChair — choose an amount, pay securely online, and send it directly to the recipient by email or keep the code to deliver yourself.
Overview
The online gift card purchase page lets customers:
- Choose from preset amounts ($25, $50, $100, $150, $200) or enter a custom amount ($1–$1,000)
- Send the gift card by email to a recipient, or keep the code for manual delivery
- Include a personal message with email-delivered gift cards
- Pay securely via Stripe (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay)
- Check the remaining balance on an existing gift card
Note
Online gift card purchases are only available for venues that have Stripe payments configured. All gift cards are valid for a minimum of 3 years from purchase (in compliance with Australian and New Zealand consumer law).
Purchasing a gift card
Step 1: Open the gift card page
Visit the venue's gift card page at venuename.openchairpro.com/gift-cards. The page can also be reached by clicking the "Gift Cards" button on the venue's storefront.
Step 2: Choose an amount
Select one of the preset amounts:

Or enter a custom amount in the text field (minimum $1, maximum $1,000). Currency matches the venue's country (AUD, NZD, or GBP).
Step 3: Choose a delivery method
Two options are available:

Step 6: Continue to payment
Click "Continue to Payment — [Amount]" (e.g. "Continue to Payment — $50.00"). The payment screen loads.
Step 7: Complete payment
The payment page shows an order summary and Stripe's payment form. Enter your card details (or use Apple Pay / Google Pay if available).
Click "Pay [Amount]" to complete the purchase. If your bank requires extra verification (3D Secure), a confirmation step appears automatically.
After purchase
Email delivery
If you chose "Email to recipient", the gift card is emailed directly to the recipient's address. The confirmation screen shows:
- A branded gift card visual with the venue's logo and accent colour
- "Gift Card Purchased!" confirmation heading
- The message: "A [amount] gift card for [Venue Name] has been sent to [recipient email]."
- A "Buy another gift card" link
Manual delivery
If you chose "I'll deliver it myself", the confirmation screen shows:
- The branded gift card visual with the gift card code displayed
- A "Copy code" button to copy the code to your clipboard
- A "Print / Save as PDF" button to print a branded card (opens a print dialog)
- The message: "Your [amount] gift card for [Venue Name] is ready."
Tip
Use the "Print / Save as PDF" button to create a physical gift card. The print layout produces a branded card with the venue's logo, colours, amount, and code — ready to put in an envelope.
Checking a gift card balance
Visit venuename.openchairpro.com/gift-cards/balance to check the remaining balance on a gift card.
- Enter the gift card code in the "Gift card code" field (e.g. "AB1C2D3E"). The code is automatically converted to uppercase.
- Click "Check Balance".
- If valid, the remaining balance and expiry date are displayed.
- If not found, the message reads: "Gift card not found or has expired. Please check the code and try again."
Gift card code format
Gift card codes are 8 characters long (letters and numbers, excluding similar-looking characters like O/0 and I/1). Codes may optionally include the prefix "GIFT-" — both AB1C2D3E and GIFT-AB1C2D3E are accepted.
Troubleshooting

| "This venue is not set up to accept online payments" |
The venue has not configured Stripe payments. Contact the venue directly to purchase a gift card in person. |
| Payment was declined |
Check your card details and try again. If the issue persists, try a different payment method or contact your bank. |
| Gift card code not received by email |
Check the recipient's spam or junk folder. If the email was entered incorrectly during purchase, contact the venue for assistance — they can look up the gift card by the purchaser's email. |
| "Too many attempts" on balance check |
Balance checks are rate-limited to prevent abuse. Wait a moment and try again. |
| Gift card shows $0 balance |
The full balance has been redeemed. Gift cards support partial redemptions, so the balance may have been used across multiple visits. |
| Print window blocked |
Your browser blocked the print pop-up. Allow pop-ups for the site and click "Print / Save as PDF" again. |
